Very HelpfulIt does take practice to incorporate these skills。 For the most part, however, initially picking up the skills is easy。 It’s getting used to using them and using them effectively that takes more time, patience and practice。 This book is filled with practical exercises to help。 I found this approach very helpful。 And, I will be revisiting the exercises to improve my skills。

Good Speed Reading Strategies!by Barbara KelleyThis book has some good strategies to help people increase the reading skills。 I gave this book 4 stars, and will use a few of the suggested techniques。

Worth every minute of your timeI have read over 20 books on reading improvements and attended at least 4 different classes over the years。 This distills the best of those approaches in a fresh and up to date style that is easily accessible and understandable。 It gives practical guidance to remove obstacles to reading efficiently。 I highly recommend to everyone。

It offers simple tips to not only accelerate reading, but comprehension and memory。 This was an interesting read。 And am voluntarily leaving my review。

I was already a fast reader, but following the first technique mentioned in this book, I was able to read it in 30 minutes。 Very helpful。

Solid guideThe main takeaway I have here is that I should have learned to speed read a long time ago。 It’s not just a valuable skill when you’re reading a book, it allows for better awareness and information processing in life in general。I haven’t read other books on speed reading (yet), but this one was a great place to start。 My advice, a bit counterintuitive for a book on speed reading— don’t go into it in a rush to finish。 Use it as a companion to other materials you’re currently reading and Solid guideThe main takeaway I have here is that I should have learned to speed read a long time ago。 It’s not just a valuable skill when you’re reading a book, it allows for better awareness and information processing in life in general。I haven’t read other books on speed reading (yet), but this one was a great place to start。 My advice, a bit counterintuitive for a book on speed reading— don’t go into it in a rush to finish。 Use it as a companion to other materials you’re currently reading and go one technique/lesson at a time。 This is actually just what the book recommends。I still haven’t totally gotten the hang of speed reading, but I’ve been set off on the journey。 I may read more books on the topic, but will definitely be actively practicing the techniques of this book as I go about all other written materials。Happy learning, to those about to read。 。。。more

Decent Explanation w/ DrillsIronically, I sped-read this book。It’s well-organized and explained。 The most helpful technique is something I do already, but now I know why (but it’s COPY WRITE PROTECTED, so I can’t tell you)。 Several of the techniques I can’t do because of an eye limitation, but it may help others。Bottom line: For under $3, it’s worth a read if you’re curious。

Pre-reading such as skimming book, reading chapters and preface/back。 When reading through book, space read (read between the spaces) or chunk read (read statements instead of individual words)。Do not regress (re-read words or sentences)。 Do not look at individual words because that causes fixation which slows down reading。 Recall and review after you read a chapter or when you start a next section。

Valuable infoThis book is awesome。 Short and easy to read, yet packed with powerful advices and exercises。 I feel like I never knew how to read until now…Incredibly grateful to the author for putting this material together :-)

i saw an ad for this on my kindle while i was opening it to do reading for one of my classes and instead of doing said reading, i spent my time reading this。 it's interesting, and i don't feel like a wasted time reading it。 i already do a lot of these techniques, but it was cool to sit down and dissect the ways i move my eyes while speed reading and such。 mans definitely should have put some citations somewhere though because he says some things that definitely needed some sort of source。 not in i saw an ad for this on my kindle while i was opening it to do reading for one of my classes and instead of doing said reading, i spent my time reading this。 it's interesting, and i don't feel like a wasted time reading it。 i already do a lot of these techniques, but it was cool to sit down and dissect the ways i move my eyes while speed reading and such。 mans definitely should have put some citations somewhere though because he says some things that definitely needed some sort of source。 not in a dangerous way but, also not in a non-plagiarized way。 this was also funny to me put next to the plagiarism notice at the beginning of the book (sir please make sure you're not plagiarizing before you go and say not to plagiarize)oh and lastly, i don't believe most people will be able to read that fast even with these techniques so that title is a little bit sketch。 。。。more

I liked reading this book, but not that much。 This book is useful for reading textbooks, journals, research papers。 Not for reading novels, literature and fiction。

I found it very useful covering not just speed but comprehension as well。 In addition to information on how to approach different types of content, there are exercises that help you improve your peripheral vision and eye health。 I don't know if I'll reach 200 pages in an hour, but certainly am improving。 I found it very useful covering not just speed but comprehension as well。 In addition to information on how to approach different types of content, there are exercises that help you improve your peripheral vision and eye health。 I don't know if I'll reach 200 pages in an hour, but certainly am improving。 。。。more

Very nice book。 Small and to the point。 Nice exercises to practice and improve your skills and change old habits。

Has a few helpful tips and actually really appreciated the stuff on eye health, but would take a real commitment to really integrate everything they talk about into your day to day reading process。

Useless drivel。 Having (unfortunately) spent money on this, the book seems to have the earmark qualities of an e-book written purely to profit by gaming Amazon's ranking system (this is a method espoused by many passive income "guru" figures on YouTube)。 It is full of non-advice (tantamount to "try reading faster" or "read it ahead of time - you'll read it faster the second you read it, when you already know what you're reading"), non-sequitur pop-psychology, and meandering prose that feels like Useless drivel。 Having (unfortunately) spent money on this, the book seems to have the earmark qualities of an e-book written purely to profit by gaming Amazon's ranking system (this is a method espoused by many passive income "guru" figures on YouTube)。 It is full of non-advice (tantamount to "try reading faster" or "read it ahead of time - you'll read it faster the second you read it, when you already know what you're reading"), non-sequitur pop-psychology, and meandering prose that feels like it was written to drive up the word count。 Did not finish。 Will not finish。 。。。more

tKnight’s book is helpful, informative, and fun to read。 He provides practical way to increase reading speed, but he does not see it as the ultimate solution to reading。 He recognizes the need for comprehension by providing multiple experiences on how to retain information。

Alas, a self-help book that delivers practical, useful information rather than 179 pages of product advertising the author wants you to buy once you read their “book。”As a speed reader myself, I found this book useful and was able to apply the techniques he discusses immediately。 If you are looking for practical, useful advice on improving your reading speed and comprehension。 Read this book。

I've always been curious about what methods people use to "speed read" and this popped up for under a buck and I'm a sucker for cheap books! There were only three strategies that I would consider to be about "speed reading" based on my initial assumptions of what it is。 Those are: Space Reading (focusing on spaces between worlds), chunk reading (focusing on groups instead of single words), and employing peripheral vision to take in wider word groups and spend less time moving from word to word。Th I've always been curious about what methods people use to "speed read" and this popped up for under a buck and I'm a sucker for cheap books! There were only three strategies that I would consider to be about "speed reading" based on my initial assumptions of what it is。 Those are: Space Reading (focusing on spaces between worlds), chunk reading (focusing on groups instead of single words), and employing peripheral vision to take in wider word groups and spend less time moving from word to word。The rest of the book was very remedial, but perhaps useful to others。 For me the book falls into the "it was ok" category。 I could have read articles or watched YouTube videos with less filler, but I didn't mind。 。。。more

I was worried when I started this book that it was going to be gimmicky offer no concrete ways to improve reading speed。 I had nothing to worry about。 The author presents real skills and techniques to improve reading and many practice drills to help development。 I recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their reading speed。

Good quick read to read quicker!I picked this book up on sale as I've always been fascinated by people who can speed read。 JFK was said to read an entire newspaper in minutes and it made him very sharp and knowledgeable about current events。 I think this book did a good job of explaining how to read faster and remember things and I plan on using it going forward。 Only thing I'm not sure it will work on fiction but I'm going to try it。 Good quick read to read quicker!I picked this book up on sale as I've always been fascinated by people who can speed read。 JFK was said to read an entire newspaper in minutes and it made him very sharp and knowledgeable about current events。 I think this book did a good job of explaining how to read faster and remember things and I plan on using it going forward。 Only thing I'm not sure it will work on fiction but I'm going to try it。 。。。more

I really wanted to like this book more, and it isn't awful or anything, but ironically you could have just read the titles of the chapters and mostly understood the techniques。 There are a lot of helpful and true things in this book that legitimately could aide you in reading BETTER, not just quicker。 But I wouldn't pay more than a dollar to read this。 I really wanted to like this book more, and it isn't awful or anything, but ironically you could have just read the titles of the chapters and mostly understood the techniques。 There are a lot of helpful and true things in this book that legitimately could aide you in reading BETTER, not just quicker。 But I wouldn't pay more than a dollar to read this。 。。。more
